On October 9, MANNA FROM HEAVEN screened for the United States Congress. Jack Valenti, the head of the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America), sponsored the screening and reception for members of Congress. US Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY), US Representative Tom Reynolds (R-NY), and US Representative Karen McCarthy (D-MO) hosted the screening. A number of Congressmembers are developing legislation to encourage film production to stay in the US (rather than go abroad); MANNA FROM HEAVEN is seen by these leaders as an example of a high quality, home-grown American film. The Five Sisters were joined by actor Shelley Duvall at the screening.
